This deck replacement was done in Rous Mill, becauseĀ every time it rained the decking boards and substructure got wet, they slowly rotted away.
Our choice for this particular deck was Tallowood. Tallowood is one of the harder and better suited Australian hardwoods for exposed verandahs and decks.
Since the roof over the deck was an add on, we decided to let the new post go all the way to the top to take away the add on look as we could not totally eliminate splash water on the deck, we fitted a small custom made butte to divert all the water coming of the roof. The deck only gets wet now with driving rain.
As an added safety feature we have also added another handrail above the old one matching the style of fixture.
